Bier Bass

A musical project that included Improvised music for double bass, 8 beers and beautiful conversations.

Why Bier Bass?

Nowadays we have double basses in all kinds of sizes. And we divide them in ways like; 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and so on. In Germany in the 19:th century, the smallest available adult size where often called Bier Bass. It was the easiest bass to transport and because of that they often brought “Bier Basses” when they wanted to perform in Bier Halls and similar places.

While reading about this, It struck me that It would be the perfect name for my next solo project. I love to play the bass and I love to have a good beer so with this in mind, I decided to call this project for Bier Bass. In this concert series that I invited no more than 8 people to participate (We could only be maximum 8 at cultural venues at that moment in Sweden, due to Corona), and I did not want to involve any kind of social media. So I invited everyone by sms or/and emails. Everyone had to agree to not spread any information about Bier Bass at any kind of social media. I played two solo sets on the double bass and then we drank beers and talk about the concert. Every guest got an individual beer that I carefully choosed for each guest.

A special big thank you to Göran Green and Galleri 21!

Cheers!
